In May, TestBench celebrated its 20th anniversary, a significant milestone that reflects its constant development and ability to innovate in a dynamically advancing technological world. To mark the occasion, the TestBench team organised a virtual customer event.

A journey through time: TestBench’s development milestones

The event began with a look back at the beginnings of TestBench. The first executable prototype was presented back in 2003, followed by 14 releases between 2004 and 2009, which included the market launch and establishment of the basic functions. From 2010 to 2020, there were a further 15 releases, which included a comprehensive redesign of the user interface, the introduction of variant management and the integration of the Robot Framework. In the last few years, from 2021 to 2024, there were more than 30 major releases that brought innovations such as a new window manager and the addition of new libraries.

Introduction of the new Product Owner, Falk Altrock

Another highlight of the event was the introduction of the new Product Owner, Falk Altrock. With seven years of experience at imbus and ten years in software quality assurance, Falk brings deep expertise in test management and test automation. His experience in TestBench and test automation solutions at customers as well as his expertise as a trainer for TestBench and Robot Framework ideally position him to steer the future direction of TestBench. Since August 2023, he has been leading the vision of TestBench as Product Owner.

Promoting community interaction

Finally, the new community concept was presented with its own Slack channel. The aim is to promote dialogue between users and provide a platform for support and direct feedback. The channel is open to all interested parties and enables direct dialogue with the TestBench team as well as discussion of content-related questions and usage tips.
